A Brief History of LandroversThe Land Rover is second only to the Jeep as the oldest line of four-wheel vehicles on the market. Designed in 1948, the prototype was actually inspired by the American Jeeps that were used in World War II. Due to the post-war steel shortage in the UK, the first Land Rovers were made of an aluminium alloy called Birmabright. The material is lightweight and rustproof and it worked so well that the company continued using it even after the steel shortage ended. The Land Rover was originally intended to be an all-terrain civilian vehicle. But its durability and off-road capabilities made it a favourite of the British military. The first models were sold by the Rover Company, which developed an entire line of vehicles around the Land Rover brand. Though sales have always been good, the company is best known for changing hands more times than a ten pound note. The following is a partial list of its owners: British Leyland, BMW, British Aerospace, Premier Automotive Group, Jaguar and Tata Motors. Should you buy used landrovers? (more...) How to Make Used Car Advertising Work for YouWith rising unemployment numbers and record debts, the UK economy has seen better days. As a result, millions of residents have been forced to make serious sacrifices. Often, these sacrifices include selling off valuable assets in order to pay the bills. In this article we will discuss used car advertising. Other than a home, a car is often the most expensive asset the average person owns. And when money gets tight, the family vehicle is often the first thing to go. There are obvious reasons for this. First, cars are easy to unload and families can get along without them. Hey, there's always public transportation! Second, car owners can save money on petrol and insurance premiums when times are tough. How do you sell a car? There are three easy ways. The first and cheapest way is to simply put a for sale sign on the back windshield. Passers by will then contact you if they are interested. As you might expect, this method provides limited exposure and it may take several months to receive a serious enquiry. (more...) Cars for the CountryIf you live in the heart of the countryside, your requirements might be very different when looking for a second hand car. Instead of looking for something eye catching and prestigious, your criteria change dramatically when you have to cart pets or grass around and you may find yourself looking for second hand land rovers or another four by four. However, it is possible to combine a run around for carting things about and a good looking car in one if you choose carefully and consider all the aspects. Firstly, it has to be spacious, as you will need to carry around everything from tools and equipment to the pet dog. Preferably the back seat will fold down to lie flat to give you the maximum room when you need it. It should also be as easy to clean as possible. You can lay down mats and blankets when you are carrying dirty things but inevitably some finds its way down the back of the seat. (more...) Used Car Sales ImproveEven a global recession couldn't force the secondhand car market in the UK into the red. During one of the worst declines in decades, used car sellers posted a profit and a sales increase of six percent in 2009. At the same time, the government deemed it necessary to create a massive scrappage scheme in order to save the ailing new car market. With a budget of four-hundred million pounds and a two thousand pound discount for each new car, the plan worked wonders and resulted in ten consecutive months of growth. But used car dealers did not complain. Even though they didn't receive farthing from the government, they knew that they could survive on their own. And now that the scrappage scheme has ended, the used car market is expected to thrive in direct competition. Why is this? Few people know is that secondhand cars have outsold new cars for decades now. Even with the help of the scrappage scheme, used cars outsold new ones by nearly two to one. used car adverts tell us all we need to know. New cars depreciate at incredible rates. People do not take into consideration the terrain that they will be driving on and how hard they are on a vehicle. For instance, if you do a lot of driving on the highway at fast speeds it is probably not ethical to buy a large SUV. Buy a Used Honda TodayHonda is the world's sixth largest carmaker. It is also one of the fastest growing major car brands. Unlike most of its Japanese peers, Honda was a relative latecomer. The company did not open for business until 1955, and at the start they only manufactured motorcycles. Honda did not release its first automobile until the mid-sixties. Few companies are fortunate enough to hit a home run with their first bat, but that's exactly what Honda did. Their classic Honda Civic was an international hit that has been in continuous production for over forty years. Why was the Honda Civic so popular? The model was one of the first subcompacts released after the oil crisis of the early 1970s. At the time, people were looking for smaller, more fuel-efficient cars. The Honda Civic fit the bill to a tee. What about a used Honda? As the popularity of their cars increased, so did their quality. The Honda Accord was the company's next major release and it was every bit as successful as the Civic. Today, the Accord consistently ranks as one of the top-selling Japanese models. The car was offered as a compact in Europe and a mid-size sedan in the North American market. (more...) |
